FAQ: Common Questions About Therapy with Ronen Dancziger

What is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)?

CBT is a short-term, goal-oriented therapy that helps you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors contributing to issues like anxiety or depression. In sessions, we focus on practical strategies to reframe unhelpful thoughts, such as breaking down overwhelming situations into manageable steps. It is evidence-based and often shows results in 12-20 weeks, making it ideal for busy clients in Tel Aviv or online.

What is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)?

ACT teaches you to accept difficult thoughts and emotions while committing to actions aligned with your values, rather than fighting them. For example, if anxiety holds you back, we practice mindfulness to observe worries without letting them control you, then take steps toward meaningful goals like building relationships. It is flexible for conditions like depression or trauma and integrates well with CBT in my NeuroFlex ACT approach.

What is NeuroFlex ACT, and how does it differ from standard CBT or ACT?

NeuroFlex ACT is my integrated Process-Based Therapy (PBT) approach that combines the best elements of CBT, ACT, neuroplasticity principles, and nervous system science. While traditional CBT focuses primarily on changing thought patterns and standard ACT emphasizes values and psychological flexibility, NeuroFlex ACT goes deeper by actively rewiring brain patterns through targeted, values-driven practices. This approach helps create lasting neurological changes that build resilience from the ground up, rather than just managing symptoms. The result is more sustainable transformation because we're literally reshaping how your brain responds to stress, emotions, and challenges.

How does therapy help with anxiety, panic attacks, or OCD?

Therapy targets the root cycles of anxiety (unhelpful thoughts, avoidance behaviors, and physical sensations) using tools like exposure exercises (gradually facing fears) and cognitive restructuring (challenging 'what-if' worries). For OCD, we focus on breaking compulsions without rituals. Sessions build coping skills, many times reducing symptoms in as few as 8-12 weeks, with homework like self-monitoring to track progress.

Can therapy treat depression and burnout?

Yes, we address depression by activating positive behaviors (e.g., scheduling enjoyable activities) and reframing self-critical thoughts, while burnout focuses on boundaries and self-compassion to restore energy. Using ACT, we reconnect you with joy and purpose. Many clients see improvements in mood and motivation within 10-15 sessions, preventing relapse through ongoing strategies.

What about trauma or PTSD treatment?

For trauma and PTSD, I use evidence-based techniques including cognitive processing to reframe trauma narratives and carefully guided exposure work to reduce avoidance patterns. This is integrated with nervous system regulation techniques to maintain safety throughout the healing process. NeuroFlex ACT weaves together Trauma-Focused ACT (TF-ACT), neuroplasticity principles, and nervous system science to facilitate healing without re-traumatization. Most clients see significant progress within 12-20 sessions, with the focus on regaining control over your responses and building lasting resilience.

Are sessions in-person or online, and how long are they?

Sessions are flexible: in-person at my Tel Aviv clinic or online via Zoom, lasting 50-60 minutes. Online works well for global clients or those preferring convenience, with the same effectiveness as face-to-face. We start weekly, then adjust based on progress.

How many sessions do I need, and what are the costs?

Most clients see meaningful change in 8-20 sessions, depending on your goals (e.g., short-term for anxiety relief). Costs are 500-600 ILS per session. We focus on efficient, results-driven therapy to minimize long-term needs.

Is therapy confidential, and who is it for?

Yes, all sessions are strictly confidential, following ethical standards. Therapy is for adults (16+) dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, English or Hebrew speakers, including LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent individuals. It is inclusive and tailored to your unique needs.

How do I know if CBT, ACT, or NeuroFlex ACT is right for me?

If you are stuck in negative patterns but motivated for change, these therapies fit well, CBT for thought-focused issues like anxiety, ACT for value-driven living amid depression. NeuroFlex ACT combines them for comprehensive results. Schedule a free initial call to discuss what is best for you.
